Grön Edibles About
Gron Blackberry Lemonade Pearls

start slow
eat responsibly

Edibles provide a needed (and often preferred) delivery method for those uninterested in smoking. Keep in mind that everyone’s metabolism is different, which means the edibles’ effects vary.

We recommend that you—whether you’re eating edibles for fun or for self care—start with a low THC dose and wait up to two hours to figure out how it affects you. And of course, eating responsibly also means abstaining from alcohol or controlled substances while enjoying any Grön edibles.

how to enjoy our chocolate

First things first: enjoy how the chocolate melts on your tongue. Because of how awesome and natural it is to swirl silky chocolate around in your mouth, you’re also allowing for sublingual and buccal absorption of the THC. The cacao’s natural butter fat, the refined cannabis extract, and the inside of your mouth create a trifecta to elevate the whole edible’s effects.

If it’s your first time, start with a small serving – 5mg or less. If you’re wondering about a suitable environment, we suggest a relaxed, familiar setting—especially if you’re after the psychoactive effects from more than a single serving of THC. On the other hand, a small dose of THC or CBD is reported to reduce social anxiety, so assess your comfort level.

Why, yes. It’s not called a super food for nothing. You can even argue—and some of us do every day—that chocolate is an aphrodisiac, elisir d’amore, food of the gods, a tongue ceremony and a dance party in your mouth. It’s a joyous adventure that connects real life to dreams and the stars in the sky.

Chemically speaking, pure raw cacao contains antioxidants and the bliss molecule called anandamide. So, in conclusion, Grön chocolate can make you feel very sexy.

Grön’s chocolate is safe with all your favorite foods. Also, hydrate. “Like Water for Chocolate” isn’t only a movie about forbidden love, it’s also a reminder to drink lots of water while ingesting edibles. And please, don’t drink alcoholic beverages while consuming your Grön chocolate.

We highly recommend storing Grön chocolate on your tongue for a minute or two. When not in use, the ideal temperature for keeping chocolate is between 60F and 70F in a dry area. A higher temperature may cause a whitish color to appear, which is called bloom. Lower temperatures are less troublesome because of how the chill keeps cocoa butter tightly bound. Also keep in mind that ambient moisture or humidity isn’t friendly to chocolate because the sugar content absorbs moisture, which will eventually cause the chocolate to bloom.

No need to refrigerate your Grön chocolate.

what to expect from THC edibles

Our cannabis-infused chocolate, Pearls, and Pips can take anywhere from 20 to 90 minutes before effects are felt. Onset time is directly related to the digestive process, which means eating them on an empty stomach results in faster activation.

The effects associated with ingested cannabis last anywhere from four to eight hours depending on the amount of THC and other cannabinoids you’ve consumed.

With THC-infused chocolate and edibles, most experience a slightly stronger body high than head high. Because the cannabinoids are absorbed by digestion and processed through the liver, the onset time is delayed compared to smoking or vaping. But because of this, the psychoactive effects of edibles last longer and are more consistent and potent than other consumption methods.

When buying cannabis flower, you’re getting taxonomic strains, which offer strong floral terpene profiles. With Grön edibles, you’re getting flavorless full-spectrum THC, CBD, CBG, CBN, or a combination of these, allowing the cannabinoids to be absorbed into the body through a combination of oral mucosal and ingestion. By letting the chocolate, in particular, melt in your mouth, the cannabinoid molecules are more efficiently absorbed and metabolized. Unlike cannabis flower, our edibles are formulated with unique, effect-driven cannabinoid ratios to offer a truly unique and consistent experience, every single time.

From a physiological standpoint, the cannabis edibles experience may feel more intense because when eaten and digested, the THC is converted to the more potent psychoactive 11-hydroxy-THC by the liver. This compound is roughly five to ten times stronger than what you’d get from smoking cannabis.

how much is the right amount?

Some people like to draw a parallel between a 5mg serving of Grön edibles to a glass of wine: it affects some people and others not at all. The idea is to start with a small amount and wait until you’ve learned what is right for you.

If you’re new to cannabis, start with a small dosage of 1-5mg until you’re familiar with how your body digests and responds to the effects. Occasional consumers tend to enjoy a serving size of 10mg or less. Frequent consumers of edibles—or medical patients—recognize their high tolerances, allowing them to consume higher doses.

From a regulatory standpoint, an adult-use single-serving edible can contain up to 10mg of THC (up to 100mg per package).

Like anything else, overdoing it makes for an unpleasant experience. For THC-infused edibles, we recommend starting small with a serving size of 5mg of THC and wait for up to two hours. Frequent consumers or those with high tolerances will likely need dosages of 10mg or more THC.

cannabis science

Ahh thanks! Because we never felt comfortable compromising the nuanced complexities of chocolate’s 400+ flavor compounds, we’ve worked to develop our own proprietary full-spectrum cannabis extract—containing all major and minor cannabinoids (CBC, CBG, CBN & d8-THC in the 2-6% range).

Unlike other ‘full-spectrum’ oil, we’ve removed all non-oils, sugars and starches that contribute to bitter taste and low potency. All terpenes and flavonoids are removed as well, ensuring our edibles deliver a perfectly delicious, consistent experience with every single bite.

There’s no right or wrong ratio! CBD and THC are the power couple of cannabis therapeutics: they work well together. They interact in a collaborative way to bring out their best curative qualities. CBD can dramatically enhance THC’s painkilling and anti-inflammatory properties, while lessening its psychoactive effects.

Cannabinoid is a class of chemical compounds that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain. The most well-known cannabinoids include THC, CBD, CBN and CBG, but the cannabis plant contains over 140 others that are being researched for their unique therapeutic qualities. They vary based on the receptors they bind to in the body.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC):
THC gives you a psychoactive high. Research suggests THC may alleviate pain, symptoms associated with PTSD, reduce nausea, mitigate insomnia, reduce anxiety and even potentially have cancer-fighting characteristics.

Cannabidiol (CBD):
CBD has non-psychoactive properties. Studies indicate CBD may help reduce inflammation, fight cancer symptoms, reduce anxiety, mitigate seizures and even epilepsy. Keep in mind that CBD oil is often used to characterize any oil where cannabidiol is the primary active ingredient.

Cannabinol (CBN):
CBN is another minor cannabinoid that occurs naturally in the cannabis plant, forming as a byproduct of THC and CBD over time. While research on CBN is still new, studies suggest that CBN may be helpful in managing pain and getting a good night’s sleep.

sustainability

Clean Green is the industry’s certifier for cannabis that’s been cultivated using sustainable, natural, and organically-proficient practices. The Clean Green Certified program was formed in 2004 as a way to regulate legal cannabis production using proven organic methods. No matter how environmentally friendly the cultivation practices are, cannabis isn’t recognized at a federal level by the USDA or its organic designation; a USDA certified organic food label requires federal approval.

The Fair Trade movement is important environmentally, socially, and economically. Its motivation is to ensure that farmers are getting a fair wage for the crops they grow and sell. Historically, so little of what consumers pay for coffee, cocoa and bananas reaches the people who produce the raw goods. Fair Trade Certified works toward a more equitable partnership between producer and consumer. Meanwhile, it’s up to all of us to keep asking how businesses—from harvest to shipment to sale—treat people.

We’re not. We leave the cultivation and harvest of farm-fermented cacao beans to the people who’ve been doing so for generations. Cocoa’s sustainability depends on an ecologically complex and fragile canopy—as well as the communities who do the sorting, cracking, winnowing, conching and aging.

Thank you! Attention-to-detail spans far and wide over here. Our chocolate bar and Pips flexible packaging is made with post-consumer recycled materials using inks that are non-toxic, and our Pearls cardboard boxes are made with recycled board. Our eco-conscious approach means we’re creating as little waste as possible with minimal impact.
